View of the Persimmon Grove - Fifth Panel

2010

Vered Nachmani’s works are filled with motifs of observing concrete reality and specific references: the interior of a home, a yard and landscape, inner worlds, windows, and still life. Her paintings explore dynamic relationships between figuration and abstraction, color and light, control and intuition, density and compression, flatness and depth, emptiness and fullness, concealment and revelation. The “full” part of the painting, seemingly complete, lacks air, while the empty lower part radiates with wholeness. Her compositions evoke spaces for breathing, embodying two contradictory yet complementary movements. Nachmani merges abstraction with representation, creating a visual language that is simultaneously dreamlike and photorealistic. She often works from photographs, and even in her oil-on-canvas technique, she remains faithfully committed to the original image.
