Michael Liani

Michael Liani (b. 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in photography, video, and cinema. His work explores, through an intimate and exposed lens, the tensions between center and periphery – drawing from his own background growing up in Migdal HaEmek, as well as the contrasts between tradition and modernity, and aspects of gender and aesthetics in human communication.
He studied art and photography at Minshar School of Art, graduating with honors in 2014, while simultaneously completing a Bachelor’s degree in the humanities and social sciences, which he finished in 2015. About a year later, he graduated with honors from the Master of Fine Arts program at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
In addition to his artistic career, Liani teaches video art at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and lectures on photography at Minshar School of Art.
