Francesco Binfare

Born in 1939 in Milan. He received his artistic education from his father and started working in Cassina in 1960, first as a researcher for new technologies and then as an assistant for Cesare Cassina, working on new projects and bringing new architypes to life. Between 1969 and 1976 he served as the manager of “Centro Cesare Cassin”, a research workshop focusing on researching the design behind experimental processes. In 1979, he became the artistic director of Cassina and held the role until 1990. In 1980, he established the center of design and communication, focusing on research and project promotion. He led initiatives to publish articles and researches about avant-garde furniture and the use of interactive media in architectural project. In 1992, Massimo Morrati approached him with an offer to design for Edra company, an offer that led to a long-term collaboration.
