Frank Lloyd Wright

Born in Wisconsin, USA in 1867. Throughout his life Lloyd Wright planned 1141 different projects – homes, offices, churches, schools, libraries, bridges, museums, and many other different buildings. 532 of the buildings he planned were completely built and 409 of those are still standing. Throughout his life he also designed furniture, fabrics, glass art, light fixtures, dishware, silverware, bed sheets and graphic design art. He was also a fruitful teacher, educator, and a philosopher. Wright taught his students that “It’s important to learn nature, love nature, and stay close to nature, nature never fails the ones that are close to it.” And indeed, nature was a great influence on his work. He was quoted saying: “Nature for me is a revelation of god. I go out to nature everyday to get inspired for my daily work. I input the same principles nature uses to create my own creations. The architect must be a prophet in the true sense of the word – if he can’t see ten years ahead, he can’t be called an architect.”
