The works of Gabriel Klasmer, an artist represented by Givon Art Gallery, move between a precise painterly gesture and a sense of an almost mechanical process. Some of the works are based on graphite coils set against colorful acrylic backgrounds, while others are built through the accumulation of layers of paint that create a surface reminiscent of printmaking. His technique generates a particular tension: the painting sometimes appears as the result of a mechanical action, almost devoid of the touch of a human hand, while simultaneously maintaining a high degree of sensitivity and delicacy.
