Ofra Zimbalista
Ofra Zimbalista (1939–2014) was a pioneering Israeli sculptor and artist who made a significant contribution to shaping public space in Israel. Her sculptures, displayed in squares, gardens, and institutional settings, reflected a unique blend of sculptural strength and human sensitivity. Drawing from her experience as a nurse, she developed materials and techniques – most notably plaster casts of the human body that were transformed into diverse metal sculptures. Zimbalista created a distinctive artistic language in which her figures appeared as actors on the stage of reality. Over time, her work gained international recognition for its universal dimension.
